Concurrent enrollment offers high school students the chance to take FREE college courses (in-person, online, or hybrid). Students can earn college credit, explore academic disciplines, get a head start on building their college transcript, and save money.

It鈥檚 important to meet with your high school counselor first if you鈥檙e planning to take MiraCosta classes. They can help you:

  • Confirm which MiraCosta courses meet your high school graduation requirements
  • Understand how early college credit fits into your four-year university application

Important: If you apply to a four-year university during your senior year of high school, you鈥檒l be considered a freshman applicant, even if you鈥檝e already earned college credits.

Concurrent enrollment offers high school students the chance to take FREE college courses (in-person, online, or hybrid). Students can earn college credit, explore academic disciplines, get a head start on building their college transcript, and save money.

  • Students can enroll up to a maximum of 11 units per fall and spring term, and 8 units per summer session.
  • Students have a $2 Student Representation Fee they can opt out of in .
  • Students are responsible for purchasing books and materials required for their course(s). Learn about more about .
  • High school students who have finished 8th grade (or are 15 years old) can take classes with permission from their high school and a parent/guardian.
  • If you're 18 years or older, permission from a parent/guardian is not required.
  • 惭颈谤补颁辞蝉迟补鈥檚 AP 5011 provides details regarding high school student enrollment at the college.
  • Recommendations from private high school principals will only be accepted if the school has filed a Private School Affidavit with the California Department of Education.
  • If the private school isn鈥檛 listed as active on the , the student will need to send a copy of their Private School Affidavit for the current school year to dualenroll@miracosta.edu.
  • The student only has to submit one affidavit for the current school year when turning in their concurrent form.
  • Home-schooled students need to show proof that they are registered as a private school by providing a Private School Affidavit for the current school year OR they can get approval from the public high school they would normally attend.
  • The local high school must agree that home-schooling counts as valid school attendance and decide if the student has done enough coursework to be ready for college classes.
  • Email your Private School Affidavit to dualenroll@miracosta.edu. You only need to submit one affidavit for the current school year when you turn in your concurrent form.

Application & Enrollment Steps

Step 1
Apply for Admissions

Tutorials

  • Submit a   Three-step process: (1) Name and email form; (2) Create CCC Apply Account; (3) Apply to MiraCosta

  • Processing takes 2-3 business days.

  • Returning Students: If you haven鈥檛 taken classes for 2 or more semesters in a row (not counting summer), you need to apply again.

  • If you don鈥檛 get a welcome email after 3 business days, email dualenroll@miracosta.edu for help.

Step 2
Activate Your SURF Account

  • Use your welcome email to set up your password and multi-factor authentication (MFA).

  • Forgot your SURF ID? Visit the SURF ID Lookup webpage.

Step 3
Submit your Early College Credit Form

 

  • The form will be emailed to students first in 1-2 business days.
  • Admissions & Records will receive the form once all parties have signed.
  • Once the form is processed (usually in 1-3 business days), Adobe e-Sign will send an automated confirmation email to all signees.

Print and Sign (PDF Version)

  • The form must contain handwritten (wet) signatures. 
  • Email the completed form in a PDF format to dualenroll@miracosta.edu.
  • Once the form is processed (usually in 1-3 business days), the student will receive a confirmation email from dualenroll@miracosta.edu.

Step 4
Complete the Pre-registration Survey and Spartan Prep

Tutorials

  • Pre-Registration Survey (Required): to complete the Pre-Registration Survey. You MUST do this every semester, and you won鈥檛 be able to enroll in classes until it's done.

  • Spartan Prep (Recommended): Spartan Prep is highly recommended as it helps you get familiar with the services and programs available to support you, paving the way for academic success.

Register

  • Tuition is FREE for Concurrent Enrollment students.

Concurrent Enrollment Resources

After your MiraCosta application has been processed and you have your SURF ID, you are eligible to meet with a MiraCosta counselor to obtain support for your long-term college and career planning at 麻豆影视, including:

  • Creating or updating an Education Plan for a 麻豆影视 degree or transfer plan
  • Exploring majors, certificates, or transfer pathways available at MiraCosta
  • Connecting to 惭颈谤补颁辞蝉迟补鈥檚 academic and personal support services

Oceanside Unified School District Students
OUSD students have the added benefit of on-campus access to a MiraCosta counselor who specializes in dual enrollment advising.
