Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) 2025 Project Achievement Awards
Âé¶¹Ó°ÊÓ received national recognition from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) at the 2025 Project Achievement Awards. The Chemistry & Biotechnology Building at the Oceanside Campus won the Project Achievement Award for Building Renovation and New Construction ($25–$50 million). The award was presented to Kitchell, our construction partner, for outstanding achievement in construction management. This facility is a key investment in science, workforce development, and student access, supporting MiraCosta’s mission to provide state-of-the-art learning environments.
In addition, Tim Flood, MiraCosta’s former Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Administrative Services, received the Distinguished Owner Honoree Award, a lifetime achievement recognition. This award honors Tim’s exceptional leadership and decades of service in advancing MiraCosta’s capital improvement projects and facilities planning.
American Institute of Architects (AIA) Award
HED Architects, who designed the Chemistry/Biotechnology building, were informed that the MiraCosta Chemistry/Biotechnology building received an award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

San Diego County Taxpayers Association (SDCTA) "EXCELLENT" Rating
The San Diego County Taxpayers Association (SDCTA) has recognized Âé¶¹Ó°ÊÓ with an "EXCELLENT" rating for managing the Measure MM $455 million bond construction program. This achievement reflects our commitment to excellence, accountability, and transparency. Despite the challenges of rising construction costs, Âé¶¹Ó°ÊÓ not only met but exceeded expectations—saving taxpayers $6 million more than originally projected in 2016.
MiraCosta Wins Prestigious Golden Watchdog Award
Âé¶¹Ó°ÊÓ is proud to announce that it won the Golden Watchdog Award in Schools, recognizing its outstanding excellence in bond program management.
The award, presented as part of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association’s 28th Annual Golden Watchdog Symposium, celebrates the best practices in public spending, decision-making, and governance across the region.
The Golden Watchdog Award is a testament to Âé¶¹Ó°ÊÓ’s leadership in fiscal responsibility and its role in setting a high standard for public institutions throughout San Diego County.
