About Transportation Resource Changes
Due to changes in our budget, some of our direct on-campus services are now limited. While we may have fewer resources available, we remain committed to supporting our students. Our team is here to help connect you with trusted community resources to ensure your needs are met. Students are also encouraged to review the resources available on the CARE website, including the and/or contacting to speak with a Community Resource Specialist about available resources throughout the county.
Bus Passes
Bus passes are offered for one month per semester. . You will only be able to apply for a current month bus pass from the 1st-19th day of the month and apply for the upcoming month from the 20th-last day of the month.
You can also purchase a discounted College Monthly pass, $57.60, with the Cashier's office at MiraCosta (the original price is $72.00). You must be enrolled in the current term to be eligible. The pass works on NCTD (Sprinter and Breeze) and MTS (Bus and Trolley). The pass is not valid on the Coaster.
Uber Discount Program
The Uber Discount Program is a voucher program for students who are taking in-person classes and have no other way of transportation to/from campus. If accepted, students will receive a voucher for 30 rides with a discount of $10 off to use during the semester to get to class.
To apply for the Uber Discount Program, please submit an . The CARE Team will use the application form to check if you meet eligibility criteria to fill the limited spots for the program and continue to screen applications until all spots have been filled.
Accepted students will recive an email to join the program for the current semester. A new application will need to be completed at the start of each semester and will be avilable two weeks before the semester starts.
Gas Cards
Gas cards are limited to emergency based situations, such as a student being stranded on campus. This process may involve coordinating with emergency fuel and/or roadside assistance resources. For support, please call us at 760.757.2121 ext. 2200 or email care@miracosta.edu.
Transportation Community Resources
- provides NCTD Bus and Sprinter Day Passes may be provided for free on a case-by-case basis to complete important tasks such as medical appointments, visiting government offices to apply for aid, visit partners in the Continuum of Care (CoC), job interviews, and relocation of persons back to their families. Brother Benno staff can assist with getting NCTD passes for citizens 65+, .medicare recipients (not MediCal), people with disabilities who qualify for a reduced fare under federal and state law, youth ages 6-18 (school ID, transit, identification, or government-issued photo ID required), under the Youth Opportunity Pass pilot program. - offers rides in San Diego County for seniors aged 60+, persons with disabilities, students, veterans, and other residents who need assistance to make essential trips for medical needs or grocery needs. To arrange for a ride, call (888) 924-3228 between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
